Description: A drawing class for beginning and intermediate students. Beginning students will learn basic drawing skills using a range of drawing tools and techniques. Primary goals will be to “loosen up,” gain confidence and develop a habit of drawing regularly.
Intermediate students will learn more advanced techniques while working on more complete drawings in whatever media they prefer.
The following supplies should be brought to class for the first day:
1 each of a range of drawing pencils: HB, 2B, 6B minimum
1 vinyl eraser
1 kneaded eraser
1 each of black, white, brown and sanguine conte crayons
1 8”x10” sketch book
1 large pad of newsprint
1 small pad (9”x12”) of Canson Mi Tientes colored drawing paper
The following supplies will not be required until the third class:
1 medium (11”x14”) pad of Bristol board
1 bottle of India ink (Higgins or whatever). That’s India ink, not drawing ink.
1 or more pen nibs
1 pen holder
Also required is a 24” or longer ruler, masking or artist tape, paper towels, and a good size (3’ x 2’ minimum) drawing board ( ½” thick gator board is perfect).
Additional supplies may be required as the class progresses, depending on the needs of the student.
