Tess Rock's Water Series Acrylic Paintings are on exhibit January through February 2010 Art On Rotation Gallery at the Thayer Memorial Library
Frozen Water Acrylic by Tess rock
Tess Rock's Water Series Acrylic Paintings are on exhibit January through February 2010 at Thayer Memorial Library Art On Rotation Gallery 717 Main St. Lancaster. Her acrylic paintings are full of color and are captivating and interesting to the viewer. This show will thrill your senses. Come and see.
Artist statement about her Water Series
The origins of my paintings are rooted in nature. The shapes are allowed to flow and intermingle, creating a tangible environment. Water, especially when freezing upon a river is my muse. The way, in which water transforms, layer by layer upon the river surface informs my work both directly and indirectly. Forms are freely moving over the surface of the canvas enticing the viewer to travel throughout the piece.
I have chosen to work in vibrant colors because they resonant with the energy of nature. Water in its simplicity is changed by reflecting its surroundings. These paintings are my reaction to the vibrancy of our natural environment. My intention is to depict the imagery of nature thru these organic abstractions.

Art Show "Paved Paradise, Protected Places," a pastel painting exhibit by Lisa Regopoulos
Purple Irisises
Collins Artworks Art On Rotation Gallery at High St. Cafe 310 High St. Clinton is pleased to exhibit "Paved Paradise, Protected Places," a beautiful show of pastel paintings by Lisa Regopoulos, from July 1 through August 30, 2010. This is a free exhibit. An artist reception will be held July 10 from 11 AM to 1 PM. Refreshments will be served.
Lisa Regopoulos
Lisa Regopoulos is best known for her garden landscapes and floral pastels that have received many awards at local Art Shows throughout the years. Over the past two years, Lisa has become a
plein air enthusiast. Eager to paint more often and to be around other like-minded artists, she formed a plein air group with members of the Leominster Art Association. They get together weekly to paint at different locations throughout Massachusetts and New Hampshire. "I have found that painting en plein air so frequently has given my artwork a fresher, more painterly look. Working faster and immersing myself in the mood and atmosphere of the outdoor scene I find inspiring and challenging."
She obtained her art education at the Worcester Art Museum and the Sharon Arts Center, Sharon, NH. She has also attended various intensive pastel workshops with Robert Carsten, PSA. "I am a firm believer that you never stop learning and am constantly reading, trying new ideas, and taking classes to become a better artist."
She is an active member of the Pastel Society of New Hampshire, Sharon Arts Center, Leominster Art Association, and Greater Gardner Art Association. Her most recent pastels have garnered the Pastel Society of America award at the Pastel Society of New Hampshire’s Regional Show and the Terry Ludwig Award at the Pastel Painters Society of Cape Cod’s National Show. Her artwork is held by private collectors in Massachusetts and New Hampshire.
"I am fascinated by the ephemeral quality of light and the atmosphere it creates at different times of the day. I am also drawn towards the dramatic interplay of light against dark, which typically appear in my garden landscape pieces and landscapes."
She is determined to do whatever it takes to paint en plein air through the changing New England seasons, and on sub-zero, windy days. "I will be content to embark on paintings in my warm studio, with the companionship of my collie, Reba, using my many plein air studies as reference."

Judith M. Friebert--Artist
Although I have worked with a variety of media and subject matter, for many years I have focused primarily on New England landscape, especially dairy farms, in pastel on paper. I create the initial images on site, completing them in my studio in Clinton, MA. In addition to cows, I also draw the human figure.
Originally from Wisconsin, my art is a response to the gritty aspects of agriculture that I find beautiful and make a family farm what it is. My admiration for farmers is also a major factor in how I perceive the land they nurture and transform to provide food for the rest of us. The farmers that I most want to thank for letting me draw on their land, are: Coopers Farm in Auburn, MacMillan’s Farm in Lunenburg, Pearson’s Elmhurst Dairy in W. Millbury, Eastleigh Farm in Framingham, and the Rainville Farm in Berlin.
I prefer to work outside in field and pasture, where I can view my subject directly. I love the way cows appear in the landscape, and they are fun to be around. I have also become a family dairy-farm advocate in Massachusetts, and if I am any help at all to farmers, it’s because of the knowledge and generosity they have bestowed upon me. I feel fortunate to be a part of this reciprocal relationship. It is so critical that we support these farmers in any way possible.
I am the daughter of professional artists, both deceased. I received my master’s and my bachelor’s in fine arts at the University of Wisconsin, Madison. I taught art in Boston Public Schools for many years and at the Museum of Fine Arts. For the last 11 years I have been living in Central Massachusetts where I work as a children’s librarian. Throughout the years I have exhibited in a number of solo and group shows.
